Vietnamese, Polish Presidents co-chair press conference

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang and Polish President Andrzej Duda co-chaired a press conference on November 28, announcing outcomes of their talks to foreign and domestic reporters.

The two leaders consented to strengthen delegation exchanges, especially high-ranking ones, regular consultations on international and regional of mutual concerns and closely support each other at international and regional forums, especially at the UN, ASEAN-EU cooperation and ASEM. 

State President Tran Dai Quang expressed thanks to Poland for advocating Viet Nam's nomination as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 period and proposed Poland urge the approval and signing of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement. 

The two leaders applauded active achievements in the two nations’ cooperation in trade and investment and their efforts in negotiating and officially signing the Finance Agreement worth €250 million, creating a foundation to launch Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects funded by the Polish Government for Viet Nam in the upcoming time. 

The Vietnamese leader asserted that Viet Nam always facilitates and encourages Polish enterprises to invest in Viet Nam in such areas as mines and ores, food processing, pharmacy and environmental protection. 

He announced that the two leaders exchanged issues of international and regional concerns, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace, cooperation and development in the world, assenting that all disputes must be addressed with peaceful measures, including fully respecting diplomatic and legal processes in line with international regulations. 

Polish President Andrzej Duda thanked Viet Nam for its support for Poland to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2018-2019 period, committing to supporting Viet Nam to be nominated as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 period.

President Andrzej Duda supposed that recently-inked documents play a crucial role, paving the way for Poland’s pharmacy and technology to get access to the Vietnamese market and more Vietnamese students to receive scholarships in Poland. 

He stressed the two-way trade turnover of US$2 billion per year at present, expecting that the figure will be multiplied in the upcoming yeas thanks to achievements gained during his State visit to Viet Nam and State President Tran Dai Quang’s future visit to Poland.
