Vietnamese, Indian companies talk business in New Delhi

VNGOP – Dozens of Vietnamese companies met up with Indian counterparts at a seminar held in New Delhi on November 15 to seek potential business partners.

November 16, 2007 7:09 AM GMT+7

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Thành Biên told the seminar that although two-way trade between Việt Nam and India rose from US $697 million in 2005 to more than US $1 billion in 2006, their potential remains yet to be fully tapped.

Deputy Minister Biên suggested that the two countries’ businesses study the possibility of investment cooperation in forest and handicraft products, footwear, textiles and apparels, pharmacy, electronics and information technology.

He said that the two countries should expand information exchange through different channels, including the Vietnamese Embassy and the Việt Nam Trade Mission in India and the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Deputy Minister welcomed Indian businesses’ participation in the Export Fair 2008 slated for April in Hà Nội.
