Vietnamese, Hungarian PMs co-chair press conference

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Hungarian counterpart Orbán Viktor met with the press on September 25 to inform outcomes of their talks.

Overview of Viet Nam-Hungary Relationship

PM Phuc warmly welcomed the Hungarian counterpart and the large-scale business delegation with 70 enterprises. The host leader affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and people attach importance to the relations with the Hungarian peers. 

PM Phuc stressed that Hungary provided over US$ 540 million in  preferential loans for Viet Nam and supported the recipient country to build a modern tumor hospital in Can Tho City. On this occasion, the two countries inked ten important documents in numerous areas especially granting 200 scholarships for Vietnamese students. 

On this occasion, the two PMs discussed ways to promote the comprehensive ties especially in trade, investment, and strategic cooperation. Other cooperative fields were discussed including finance, culture, agriculture, IT, transport safety, vocational training, as well as environmental protection.

PM Phuc took the occasion to thank the Hungarian Government and people for backing the overseas Vietnamese community  in Hungary.

Hungarian Orbán Viktor said that via the visit to Viet Nam, he hoped to show his respect for Viet Nam and the wonderful economic achievements of the Southeast Asian nation and open up a new chapter for the bilateral ties. 

Mr. Orbán Viktor revealed that in the region, Hungary regards Viet Nam as a focus for cooperation and hopes to build special ties with Viet Nam on the basis of 67-year traditional ties, over 3,000 overseas Vietnamese educators from Hungary; and thousands of overseas Vietnamese people in Hungary, and Viet Nam’s abundant potentials for development./.
