The event was co-organized by the Dutch Embassy in Viet Nam, the Ha Noi People’s Committee, the Fair Wear Foundation and the Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environment.

The program aimed to introduce to Ha Noi citizens and visitors about the traditional and modern fashion styles imbued with Dutch identities, towards a more sustainable fashion industry, thereby contributing to the implementation of sustainable development goals. This is also an important trend in global development and a focus of cooperation between Viet Nam and the Netherlands at present and in the future, which is environmental protection and sustainable development.

In his speech, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said the event not only contributed to enhancing friendship and understanding between two countries but also offered an opportunity for the people and tourists to get the most authentic experience of Viet Nam-Netherlands cooperation in the fields of culture, fashion and the environment. The program would widely spread the “green” message that both the Netherlands and Viet Nam are moving towards, he stated.

For his part, Dutch PM Mark Rutte expressed his delight to see that fashion brands of the two countries are taking joint steps to promote sustainable fashion, a fashion trend that is not distinctive and is open to all classes in society.

He hailed garment and textile as one of Viet Nam’s spearhead economic sectors, while highly appreciating the Vietnamese Government’s significant contributions to strengthening the sustainable development of the garment industry.

On the occasion, the Dutch leader thanked the Ha Noi People’s Committee for its coordination in organizing the fashion show, which enabled the Netherlands to prove the practical value of sustainable fashion.

The “Walk to Talk” sustainable fashion show, inspired from the latest sustainable fashion designs, demonstrated the Netherlands-Viet Nam cooperation method aimed at promoting responsible business conduct in the garment & textile industry.
