Vietnamese Deputy PM to visit US in March 2007

VNGOVNet – At the invitation of the US Secretary of State, Ms. Condoleezza Rice, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm will pay an official visit to the United States on March 11-16, 2007. He is accompanied by representatives of the Government Office, ministries of Transport, Science and Technology, Post and Telematics, and Education and Training.

This visit is aimed at deepening the positive development between Vietnam and the US; strengthening bilateral ties in the fields of economy, trade, science, technology, education and training; and discussing solutions to realize the agreements achieved during the visit to Vietnam by US President G. Bush in November 2006.

It is expected that Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm will have talks with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and meetings with the US administrative officials, Congress members, representatives of financial and educational organizations, leaders of some big groups; and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the US. He also plans to visit some localities in the US apart from Washington D.C.
