Vietnamese, Cuban communist parties cement ties

VNGOVNet – General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nông Đức Mạnh had a reception on March 8 to the visiting delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) headed by Mr. Fernando Remirez, member of the Secretariat and Head of the CPC International Relations Department.

Mr. Fernando Remirez respectfully conveyed the compliments of President Fidel Castro and Vice President Raul Castro to General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh and other leaders of the Vietnamese Communist Party and State. He briefed significant achievements made by the Cuban people, under the leadership of the CPC, in the construction of socialism. Thanking invaluable support of the Vietnamese Communist Party, State and people to Cuba, Mr. Fernando Remirez stressed that the CPC, State and people will try best to cooperate with Vietnam in solidifying and deepening the loyal friendship between the two parties, two states and two peoples. The guest passed on the invitation from the Cuban Party and State leaders to General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh to visit Cuba in the time to come.

On behalf of the Vietnam Communist Party, State and people, General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh affirmed Vietnam’s determination to nurture, strengthen and develop traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

The CPC delegation also had talks with the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Son, member of the Central Committee and Head of the Central International Relations Department. The two sides informed each other the situations of each party and each country as well as shared their opinions on international and regional issues of common concern.
