VGP – The Secretaries of the Party Committees of four Vietnamese northern border provinces of Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang and Ha Giang, and the Communist Party of China Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held talks in Lang Son on March 22 as part of their New Year Meeting 2019.

At the talks

At the talks, Secretary of the Lang Son Party Committee Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said  the partnership between the four Vietnamese localities and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been developing.

Along with maintaining regular exchange activities and meetings among senior leaders of the provinces, they have directed sectors and border localities to strengthen cooperation in various areas.

Thanh proposed that the localities continue increasing effective collaboration mechanisms and delegation exchanges, while promoting all-round cooperation.

Vietnamese and Chinese localities should direct the optimising of affiliation among authorised agencies, focusing on investment, trade, tourism, transport system construction, border trade and economic cooperation, customs clearance, cross-border labour, justice, agriculture, science, education, culture, sports and health care, she said.

The localities will continue Vietnam-China youth friendship meetings, festivals of border residents, cooperation for women’s progress, and expansion of partnership among twinned cities, districts and villages. They should strengthen communications on Vietnam-China friendship.

She stressed the need for strict implementation of Vietnam-China land border agreements, timely settlement of civil dispute cases arising in border areas, the smooth operation of border gates, as well as cooperation in fighting cross-border criminals and ensuring border security, and fostering collaboration in managing cross-border labourers.

Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang and Quang Ninh as well as Guangxi should share information on working conditions, income and recruitment requirements of local enterprises, while implementing the memorandum of understanding on collaboration in building peaceful border signed between the Party Committees of Viet Nam’s Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces and Chong Zuo city of Guangxi.

After the New Year meeting 2018, Vietnamese and Chinese localities have held many meetings of senior leaders through all channels, while exchanging information and sending greetings messages to each other on important events.

The exchange and cooperation activities among the localities have helped boost their partnership in tourism, transport connection, development of border gate pairs and markets, customs clearance, cross-border labour management, construction of border economic regions, trade-investment, and the combat against smuggling.-VNA
