Vietnamese, Belarusian Presidents discusses bilateral ties, int’l issues

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko discussed on bilateral ties and regional and international issues of common concerns during their talks in Minsk capital this morning.

State President begins Belarus, Russia visits

State President meets with Belarusian veterans

State President Quang affirmed Viet Nam always attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Belarus.

Meanwhile, the host President said Viet Nam is a priority partner in his country’s foreign policy towards Asia, welcoming Viet Nam’s efforts to host the APEC Year 2017.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the positive advancement of the bilateral ties in all fields, reaffirming their determination to further promote the relationship in a real and effective manner.

Both sides agreed to continue regular exchange of delegations at all levels in a bid to increase political trust and accelerate cooperation from State to local levels.

They vowed to enhance coordination at multilateral forums like the United Nations and the Non-aligned Movement to contribute to protecting interests and security of the two countries as well as peace, stability and prosperity across the world.

The leaders agreed to double efforts to raise the two-way trade volume to US$500 million in the nex two years while expanding cooperation in agriculture.

The pair was also pleased to see that the first auto joint-venture would come into operation by the end of this year.

The two sides agreed to continue effective implementation of their cooperation program on economics, science, education and culture fields between 2016 and 2018 and effective defense cooperation.

The two leaders highly valued the two countries’ efforts in facilitating entry and exit to boost tourism cooperation.

Regarding regional and international issues, the two Presidents highlighted that the United Nations plays a central role in ensuring international peace and security and sustainable development.

The Belarusian President voiced support for Viet Nam’s position of settling territorial disputes, including those in the East Sea through peaceful measures, welcoming all efforts to soon reach a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

After their talks, the two Presidents witnessed the signing ceremony of nine cooperation documents.
