The PM entrusted the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct the Vietnam Southern Food Corporation in promptly transporting the said amount of rice to the Philippines. The Ministry of Finance will cover the freight.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform the Filipino Embassy in Hanoi about the PM’s decision and collaborate with the ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Finance in realizing it.

Typhoon Durian with wind power of 185 km/hour was reported to hit the Philippines on November 30, leaving 500 people dead and missing. At least eight villages near Mayon Volcano, 320km south of Manila, were buried in mud. Durian caused heavy damages in the northern and central Philippines, affecting about 22,000 people. Flood and strong wind destroyed houses, cut off electricity supply and interrupted sea transport.
