Vietnam Airlines attempts 21 craft more for fleet

VNGOVNet - Vietnam Airlines has announced that between now and 2010, it will acquire another four Boeings 787-8, ten Airbuses 321, five ATRs 72 and lease two 250-seat airplanes more as additions to the current fleet.

The airliner is running 38 airplanes, including ten Boeings 777, ten Airbuses 320, six Airbuses 321, nine ATRs 72, two Fokkers 70 and one A 330-300. Of them, 18 are owned by itself and 20,  leased. \


Vietnam Airlines General Director Nguyễn Xuân Hiển said that the airliner's long-term strategy  to 2015 is to build a 86-strong fleet capable of carrying 11 million passengers a year. Last year, the national flag carrier flew 6 million passengers.
