Pham made the call on Monday during his meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the COP26 in Glasgow, the UK.

The EU is one of Viet Nam’s leading and strategic partners as it plays an important role in ensuring security, peace, and development in the region and the world, PM Pham said.

He urged the EU member countries to accelerate the ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) so that the agreement would come into effect soon, thus bringing practical benefits to the two sides’ businesses.

Pham took the occasion to extend thanks to the EU and its member countries for timely providing Viet Nam with COVID-19 vaccine, medical equipment and supplies, hoping the EU would continue helping the Southeast Asian nation access to vaccines.

With regard to the illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, Pham informed that he had directed localities to take drastic measures to put an end to IUU, asking the EC to remove yellow card warning on Vietnamese seafood and provide technical support for Viet Nam./.
