Viet Nam reports 62 new COVID-19 cases, 80 recoveries, one more death

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 62 new COVID-19 cases on Friday evening, bringing the national caseload to 12,414.

The latest patients include two Vietnamese returning from Cambodia and Japan while the others are domestic infections recorded in Ho Chi Minh City (39), Bac Giang (19), Bac Ninh (6), Ha Tinh (3), and Hoa Binh (1).

The same day, the ministry reported that 80 patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,733.

It also reported one more Coronavirus-related fatality, taking the death toll to 62.

The latest death is a 71-year-old woman who suffered from tuberculosis, hypertension, type 2 diabetes for more than ten years.

On June 2, the woman along with her daughter and grand-daughter entered Viet Nam via Moc Bai international border gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh.

Two days later she tested positive for COVID-19 and was taken to the Ben Cau medical center where she was diagnosed with pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Her health condition continued to deteriorate and passed away on June 14./.
