Viet Nam records more than 2,900 cyber attacks in first half

VGP – Viet Nam recorded 2,915 cyber attacks over the first half of 2021, up 898 from the same period last year, said the Viet Nam National Cyber Security Center (NCSC).

July 06, 2021 11:41 AM GMT+7

The figure includes 718 cyber attacks in June alone, said the NCSC.

Viet Nam jumped 25 places after two years to rank 25th out of 194 countries and territories worldwide in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) in 2020, according to a report released by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) on June 30, 2021.

The Southeast Asian country ranked 7th in the Asian-Pacific region and surpassed Thailand to clinch the fourth position in the ASEAN after Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Earlier on June 25, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung issued Directive No. 22/CT-BTTTT on strengthening the prevention and combat of law violations and crimes on the Internet./.
