Viet Nam confirms 45 new local COVID-19 infection cases

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed 45 community infection cases of COVID-19 on Monday afternoon, raising the national patient tally to 2,050.

The latest cases comprise two in Gia Lai, three in Quang Ninh, three in Ha Noi, 12 in Hai Duong, and 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Specifically, patient 2006 is a seven-year-old boy in Quang Ninh’s Dong Trieu Town.

He came in contact with his father who had been confirmed positive for the virus and became patient numbered 1727.

The boy is being treated at the Viet Nam-Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi City.

Patient 2007 is a 43-year-old woman in Quang Ninh’s Dong Trieu Town.

The woman, who works at the Poyun company located in plot B2-1, Cong Hoa Industrial Park in Cong Hoa Ward, Hai Duong’s Chi Linh City, was sent to a concentrated quarantine camp since January 30.

She is being treated at the Viet Nam--Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi City.

Patient 2008 is a five-year-old boy in Quang Ninh’s Ha Long City.

He came in contact with his father who had been confirmed positive for the virus and became patient 1553.

The boy was sent to a concentrated quarantine site since January 27.

He is being treated at the No. 2 field hospital located at the provincial Lung Hospital.

Patient 2009 is a 28-year-old woman in Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District.

She came in contact with patient 1722 and began experiencing fever, cough and sore throat on February 5.

The woman is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Patient 2010, who is a 50-year-old woman in Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District, came in close contact with patient 2009.

Patient 2011 is a 10-month-old baby girl in Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District.

She is the daughter of patient 2010.

The baby is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Patient 2012 is a 33-year-old man in Ia Pa District of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

The man, who contracted the virus from patients 1952 and 1982, is being treated at the Ayunpa Medical Center.

Patient 2013 is a 32-year-old woman in Gia Lai’s Kong Chro District, contracting the virus from patient 1845.

She is being treated at the Ayunpa Medical Center.

Patients 2014-2038 are employees at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Patients 2039-2050 are residents of Cam Giang and Kim Thanh Districts and Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province.

Further epidemiological investigation is underway of the patients 2014-2050, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control led by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Of the national tally, 1,472 have recovered and exited hospitals while the death toll stood at 35.

The nation is placing 89,782 people under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, including 529 at hospitals, 19,879 at concentrated quarantine camps, and the rest at places of residence.

Due to the surge of local infection cases, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc allowed localities to impose strong measures to contain COVID-19 spread.

He asked HCMC authorities to stay calm and take drastic actions to contain the outbreak while encouraging residents to follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K (in Vietnamese) message: Khau trang (facemask) – Khu khuan (disinfection) – Khoang cach (distance) – Khong tu tap (no gathering) – Khai bao y te (health declaration)./.
