Viet Nam among Top 20 countries with highest number of administered COVID-19 doses

So far, the country reached contracts to import 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and received about 125 million doses from different sources.

As of November 9, over 90 million doses of vaccines had been administered, with 83.8 percent of people aged 18 and older receiving the first jabs and more than 40% of the eligible population having been fully vaccinated.

Viet Nam stands after Indonesia in the Southeast Asian region and 7th in Asia in terms of the number of administered doses.

It is also one of the three countries in the world with the fastest injection rate in terms of daily and weekly doses, said Nguyen, adding that it ranks second only to Indonesia in Southeast Asia.

Viet Nam has conducted human clinical trials of three COVID-19 vaccines, of which two vaccines are now in the third and last trial phase, and signed contracts on technology transfer with countries around the world to gradually secure vaccines for domestic use in the long run.

Nguyen said the ministry is finalizing a comprehensive COVID-19 prevention and control plan which lays focus on enhancing medical capacity at the grassroots level to deal with future pandemics./.
