The renewed regulation is applicable to those who come in close contact with COVID-19 patients and those who enter Viet Nam, Long added.

The extension is part of the country’s efforts to prevent spread of COVID-19 as authorities have detected tens of local infections linked to both Vietnamese and foreigners who tested positive for COVID-19 after completing 14-day mandatory quarantine.

Earlier the same day, the northern province of Hai Duong became the first locality to decide to impose 21-day mandatory quarantine period for all F1 individuals who come in direct contact with COVID-19 patients.

Viet Nam confirmed 26 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 18 community infection cases, raising the national patient tally to 3,022./.
