The consensus was reached during an online meeting between Viet Nam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu and Cambodian Senior Minister in charge of border affairs Var Kim Hong.

At the event, the two sides expressed their delight at the fine development of the bilateral relationship despite impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, affirming that the governments and people of the two nations have provided each other with valuable and timely assistance to cope with the pandemic.

In addition, the two countries’ border agencies and localities have closely coordinated to implement two legal documents recognizing the completion of about 84 percent of the Viet Nam-Cambodia land border demarcation and marker planting workload, which were signed on October 5, 2019 and took effect on December 22, 2020.

Both sides also agreed to make good preparations for a meeting between the two Chairmen of the Viet Nam-Cambodia and Cambodia-Viet Nam Joint Committees for Land Border Demarcation and Marker Planting in the coming time, and find flexible forms of exchange to well solve border issues, thus helping to consolidate and build a Viet Nam-Cambodia borderline of peace, stability, friendship, and cooperation for sustainable development.

Viet Nam and Cambodia share the border line of 1,245km passing 10 provinces of Viet Nam and nine provinces of Cambodia. The two countries have opened 41 pairs of border gates, including 10 international border gates, along the shared border.
