Viet Nam attaches importance to and expects to strengthen the relationship with Australia, asserted Ms. Thinh, hailing the two nations’ cooperation in trade and investment, especially the two-way trade value of nearly US$6.5 billion in 2017.

Australia is investing in 412 projects in Viet Nam with the total capital investment of US$1.8 billion, she said, hailing Australia’s Official Development Assistance for Viet Nam.

She suggested enhancing cooperation in education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, asserting to closely cooperate with Australia in launching the New Colombo Plan.

Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation to attend the 28th  Global Summit of Women, Minister Julie Bishop expected that the delegation will make contribution to the success of the event.

Viet Nam is one of priorities in Australia’s diplomatic policies, said Ms. Julie Bishop, proposing strengthening high-ranking delegation exchanges and bilateral cooperative mechanisms.

She asserted that Australia is willing to address issues that may affect Viet Nam and the two nations’ relations based on Australia’s regulations and policies.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the Australian diplomat confirmed that Australia highlighted the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea as well as treatment of disputes in line with the international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.

The two sides agreed to enhance close coordination at international and regional forums.

The same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh met with Governor of New South Wales David Hurley.
