The statement was made during the meeting between the Vice Chair of the Committee on International Trade and Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue on December 5 in Ha Noi.

The Deputy PM thanked Mr. Jan Zahradil for his active activities in establishing the Friends of Viet Nam Group at the EP, contributing to enhancing the relations between Viet Nam and the EU in general and the Vietnamese National Assembly and the EP in particular.

Mr. Jan Zahradil supposed that when the EVFTA is launched, the economic and trade relations will be boosted, meeting the expectations of the two sides’ business communities.

The Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively checking the draft EVFTA and Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) and will reply to the EU soon, the Deputy PM said, highlighting the role and contribution of the EP’s Committee on International Trade to the two sides' economic and trade cooperation.

The Vietnamese Government welcomes the Friends of Viet Nam Group to visit Viet Nam in the upcoming time.

The EU-Viet Nam trade turnover reached US$45.1 billion in 2016 and US$41.7 billion in the first 10 months of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
