Vegetable and fruit export outstrips US$ 3.34 billion
VGP - As of mid-December, fruits and vegetables brought back US$ 3.34 billion in export turnover, representing a year-on-year surge of 45%, the Viet Nam Customs reported.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Vietnamese fruits and vegetables were chiefly exported to China. In the first 11 months, the neighboring market imported over US$ 2.4 billion of products, accounting for 75.7% of total revenue, up 54.9% against the same period last year. Other large importers of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits included Japan, the U.S., the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and Thailand.
In the first 11 months, out of Viet Nam’s 23 vegetable and fruit importers, four markets suffered declining export turnovers including Thailand, the UK, Cambodia, and Indonesia.
So far, fruits and vegetables surpassed rice, coffee, and even crude oil in export turnover. In 2017, the commodity was projected to fetch US$ 3.514 billion, representing 43% against the same period last year./.
