VN’s trade deficit from RoK hit US$11.6 bln

VGP – Viet Nam’s exports to the Republic of Korea (RoK) in May this year reached US$1.43 billion, raising the total export value to US$7.18 billion in five months, a year-on-year increase of 31%.

According to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the imports from the RoK exceeded US$18.74 billion over the first five months of the year, up 1.1%. 

Viet Nam’s trade deficit from the RoK was estimated at US$11.56 billion in five months, an increase of US$2.42 billion against the first four months of the year. 

In the first four months of 2018, the RoK was the second largest exporter of Viet Nam (only after China). 

Viet Nam’s key import items from the RoK included computers, electronics and spare parts, worth US$5.83 billion, accounting for 39.1% and up 51.9% against the same period last year. 

These were followed by machines, equipment and tools with US$1.91 billion and computers and accessories with US$1.49 billion, up 4.4%.
