VN’s rice export thrives in early month

VGP – Many enterprises from the Philippines, Singaporean and African countries have contacted to domestic rice exporters.

February 03, 2009 5:12 PM GMT+7

In 2009, 4.5-5 million tons of rice will be exported

The world’s biggest rice importer, the Philippines, will consume around 1.5 million tons of rice from Việt Nam in 2009.

Some rice exporters revealed that the prices of Vietnamese rice increased by US $20 in the last week of January against the previous month.

With many newly-inked contracts with profitable prices, export enterprises in the Mekong Delta are collecting a large volume of paddy rice for export purpose.

This year, Việt Nam intends to export 4.5–5 million tons of rice. About 2.8 million tons will be delivered in the first six months. The export volume in the two earliest months can reach 900,000 tons.
