Việt Nam has a potential IT market

BSA’s representative revealed that Việt Nam is among few Asia-Pacific countries getting a spectacular upgrading in IT competitiveness index.

This year’s study is based on six major areas, including business environment, IT infrastructure, human resources, legal environment, research and development, and State’s support for the development of the IT industry. In addition, the use of mobile phones is also included in the study.

Việt Nam has made a significant progress when its use of mobile phones increased 78.7%, wideband connection up from 0.8 to 2.5 per 100 people. The country’s Internet subscribers reached 6.7 million and the ratio of laptop user 14.7 over 100 people.

Besides, Việt Nam’s legal environment has been obviously improved after the approval of the Law on Intellectual Property. Especially, copyright infringements sharply decreased.

BSA noted that Việt Nam still lacks a contingent of skilled IT staff.
