VN-Singapore comprehensive cooperation cemented

VNGOP – On his lasting working day in Singapore (June 25), Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng paid a courtesy visit to Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong. On the same day, the Deputy PM received Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng informed the Singapore PM about Vietnam's recent socio-economic development, emphasizing the Vietnamese Government's great effort to attract more foreign investors, such as promoting administrative reform, creating a favorable investment environment, accelerating international economic integration, developing a contingent of manager.

PM Lee Hsin Loong asserted that Vietnamese economy is developing rapidly to catch up the economic development in the region and the world. He highly spoke of Vietnam for speeding up the renovation and open-door process, facilitating the entry of foreign investors. He stressed that, as ASEAN members, Vietnam and Singapore should try to create sustainable and effective frameworks for cooperation and co-development.

PM Lee Hsien Loong expressed his desire that the two countries will continue to conduct new and fruitful cooperation projects on the fields in which Singapore has good potentialities and experience, such aviation services, financial services, construction of industrial parks and export processing zones, and transport. The Singapore PM was convinced that the Vietnam-Singapore close relationship not only contributes to the deepened political ties but also creates a good environment for the long-term cooperation among the businesses of the two countries.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng thanked PM Lee Hsien Loong for his good sentiments, affirming that Vietnam will try best to strengthen the ASEAN solidarity as well as cement traditional friendship with Singapore.

In the reception to Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang, Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng asked the two countries to set up long-term cooperation programs and plans  focusing on information technology; traffic infrastructure construction; development of stock markets; and educational and training cooperation.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng also suggested the collaboration among Vietnamese and Singapore universities and banks. He expected that Singapore will assist Vietnam to build and develop a healthcare system because Singapore possesses good experience in this field.

Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang stated that Vietnam is an attractive destination for leading investors and businesses in the region and the world. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang showed his pleasure at Vietnam's achievements in boosting reform and international integration. He asked the Vietnamese Government to provide more favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to appear on Singapore's stock markets. So, the two sides will have more opportunities to support each other in improving their management capacity over securities markets, he said.
