The signing ceremony was held during  Minister Lich’s visit to Russia to attend the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security from April 4-5 at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The plan is aimed at realizing inked agreements on defense cooperation as well as establishing a cooperative roadmap within three years to promote the two nations’ defense cooperation more intensively and effectively.

At the working session between the two Ministers, the two sides discussed the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation and consented some cooperative contents in the upcoming time.

Russia regards Viet Nam as key partner in the Asia-Pacific region, asserted Mr.  Shoigu, adding that Russia is willing to strengthen the relationship with Viet Nam in defense cooperation.

Mr. Lich hailed Russia’s annual organization of the Moscow Conference on International Security, supposing that the event creates an opportunity for delegates to share viewpoints on security challenges and threats, including terrorism.

Viet Nam attaches importance to the Strategic Partnership with Russia, considering the relations with Russia as one of priorities in the nation’s diplomatic policy, he affirmed.

The two Ministers hailed the outcomes in the two nations’ defense cooperation, especially after Russian Minister Sergei Shoigu’s visit to Viet Nam in recent January, confirming that the two sides need to actively realize signed agreements and support each other at international forums.

They discussed issues on bilateral defense cooperation, assenting measures to improve cooperation in the upcoming time in fields of delegation exchanges at all levels, training, navy and dialogues on defense strategy.

The two Ministers agreed to improve the effectiveness of military technique cooperation, meeting the demands and benefits for both.

At the meeting, Minister Lich accnouned that Viet Nam will send representatives to attend the International Military-Technical Forum 2018 and the International Army Games 2018 in Russia.

The same day, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich met with Director of Russia's Federal Security Service Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov.
