The Government chief described the on-going visit of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko as a significant and memorable landmark that would help further enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

He extended thanks to the good sentiments and deep care of the Japanese Emperor as well as the Japanese royal family for the Vietnamese people and for the bilateral relationship.

PM Phuc also highly appreciated the role and effective contributions of Japanese businesses to the Southeast Asian country’s socio-economic development.

The Japanese Emperor and Empress thanked Viet Nam for preserving and maintaining the Japanese-architecture relics in Hoi An and its support for Japan to overcome the consequences of the earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

The two sides highlighted the two countries' historical links, cultural similarities, and love for peace, saying they are the foundation that should be promoted to strengthen the bilateral ties.
