VN-Japan cultural days to start in Hội An

VGP - A program entitled “2009 Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange Days” will take place in the world heritage site of Hội An ancient town and the world’s biosphere reserve of Chàm Islands in the central province of Quảng Nam on August 14-16.

The program will feature “Vietnamese Cultural Space”, representing Vietnamese architectural and cultural characteristics and craft performances, said Mr. Võ Phùng, Director of the Hội An Culture and Sports Center.

The annual event, held since 2003, will also showcase special food, foodstuffs and handicrafts of different regions, mainly from the south. 

Regarding the Japanese side, three professional art troupes with over 200 artists will focus on playing Japanese drums, piano and guitar. Japanese traditional activities include tea-making ceremonies, photo taking and fashion shows.

The “2009 Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange Days” will also include photo exhibitions, display of ancient Vietnamese and Japanese vehicles, street parades, calligraphy shows, and child games.
