VN-China sign MoU on realizing GMS Treaty

VNGOVNet – Acting on behalf of the PM, Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng has just agreed in principle with the petition from the Ministry of Transport to signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vietnam and China to initially implement the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Agreement between and among the Kingdom of Cambodia, People’s Republic of China, Union of Myanmar, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on faciliating cross-border transport of passengers and cargos.

The Deputy PM assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill diplomatic procedures in order to authorize Deputy Minister of Transport Trần Doãn Thọ to represent the Vietnamese Government to sign the MoU with China’s authorized representative in the 2nd meeting of the GMS Joint Committee scheduled on March 15-20, 2007 in Beijing (China).
