State President Tran Dai Quang made the above remarks at the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing, China on May 15, which was attended by State/Government leaders of 29 countries.

State President Quang suggested that cooperation within the Belt and Road initiative should link with the UN Agenda 2030 on sustainable development as well as other cooperation frameworks in the region and the world.

The cooperation framework should base on development needs of countries and the principles of consensus, equality, voluntariness, transparency, openness, mutual respect and benefits, said the State President.

He shared Viet Nam’s efforts in accelerating economic linkages and infrastructure connectivity with neighboring countries and in supporting land-locked countries to increasingly participate in and benefit from the global trading system.

State President Quang said international institutions should have comprehensive studies and evaluation on the reality of infrastructure connectivity across the world to identify key destinations for their investments.

He also took the occasion to share APEC’s priorities in 2017, affirming Viet Nam, as the host of the forum, is working actively with the member economies to foster Asia-Pacific partnership for sustainable and inclusive development in the 21st century.

The same day, State President Quang and his Spouse left Beijing for Ha Noi, concluding his tour to China from May 11-15 at the invitation of Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping./.
