VN welcomes U.S. corporation to invest in power projects

VGP – The Vietnamese Government welcomes the U.S. AES Corporation to pour investment in Mong Duong II thermal power plant in the northern province of Quang Ninh, said Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue at his reception for President of AES Viet Nam David Stone on May 17.

Mr. David Stone said that the AES is planning to invest in Son My 2 Gas Hydropower Plant in from of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and launching the liquefied natural gas terminal project, expecting to make contribution to the two nations’ trade and investment activities. 

The Viet Nam Government agreed with cooperation between the AES and the Petro Viet Nam Gas Joint Stock Corporation to launch the liquefied natural gas terminal, asserted the Deputy PM, suggesting the two sides actively join hands to accelerate the signing of cooperative contracts to soon operate the project. 

He proposed the AES discuss with the Petro Viet Nam to seek for suitable investment in Son My 2 Gas Hydropower Plant, confirming that the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade will tackle obstacles in launching the project.
