PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng was convinced that the visit will help to promote the friendship between Vietnam and China in general and between Vietnam and Hong Kong in particular. The Government head stressed that, over the past time, the Vietnam-Hong Kong multifaceted cooperation has developed well. In 2006, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Hong Kong reached over US$ 2 billion. Businesses from the Chinese Special Administrative Region have invested in Vietnam in over 370 projects worth of US$ 5.2 billion. The PM expected that Hong Kong enterprises will continue doing business and investment in Vietnam in all fields, especially finance, banking, insurance, securities, transport and tourism. The Vietnamese Government would provide favorable conditions to help Hong Kong investors do business effectively in Vietnam, the PM affirmed.

Chairman Peter Woo expressed his hope that the HKTDC will closely cooperate with the Vietnam Trade Development Council and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that Hong Kong businesses want to involve in infrastructure construction, electronic products, garment, securities and services in Vietnam.
