The CPR Presidency will last for one year, the same as the term of the ASEAN Chairmanship.

At the ceremony of assumption, Ambassador Vũ Đăng Dũng, Chief Representative of Việt Nam at ASEAN, pledged to continue cooperation and coordination with all members of CPR in fulfilling the Committee’s assignments in 2010.

Witnessing the hand-over between Thailand and Việt Nam, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan confirmed his full support for CPR’s performance which, according to him, will surely speed up the construction of the ASEAN Community.

He once again highly appreciated Việt Nam’s preparations for its assumption of the ASEAN Chairmanship.

CPR was founded last year in order to support operations of councils of the ASEAN Community. The committee is also the liaison body for the ASEAN Secretary General in dealing with ASEAN-related issues.
