The Party chief made the statement on Tuesday during his reception for delegates to the 4th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies themed “Viet Nam on the Road to Integration and Sustainable Development.”

He also spoke highly of the significance of the conference with the attendance of scholars and researchers who have devoted efforts to Vietnamese studies.

Delegates to the event said they were impressed with progressive and comprehensive changes in Viet Nam over the past time.

They also underlined that Viet Nam has long-lasting traditions and big potentials for development.

Finding a sustainable development model is necessary for all countries and Viet Nam possesses enough advantages to achieve the target, the delegates said.

During the 4th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies, domestic and foreign delegates had a chance to share historical documents, discuss findings in social science and humanities, evaluate scientific and technological achievements, and propose specific solutions to prevent economic crisis, backwardness, resource exhaustion and environmental destruction.

The conference’s results are expected to serve the strategy on turning Viet Nam into a modern industrial country by 2020.

Attending the opening session, PM Nguyen Tan Dung said that the acceleration of international integration in terms of science and technology in general and social sciences and humanities in particular is crucial to Viet Nam’s international integration strategy.

The success of the conference will assert the role of social sciences and humanities as well as their benefits to the country’s socio-economic development strategy, the PM added.
