VN to start population and housing census from April 1

VGP – The 2019 population and housing census will start from April 1 to gain inputs for designing the 2021-2030 socio-economic development strategy.

The Government had set up a central steering committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, to direct the census.

The census will be conducted in accordance with the current international standards, according to Nguyen Bich Lam, Director General of the General Statistics Office.

The methodology for information collection will be both direct and indirect in a bid to increase the data quality and transparency and reduce census time and costs.

The census also looks into the implementation of the United Nations-led sustainable development goals introduced in September 2015./.
