Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh made the statement at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24.

The Deputy PM called all the nations to make efforts in enhancing multilateralism and follow international law, for peace, cooperation and sustainable development, affirming the role of the multilateralism, especially the UN in promoting the partnership and supporting other countries in successfully realizing the sustainable development goal.

He supposed that international laws are fundamental factors for a sustainable international security structure and unilateral policies, measures and forces are causing tensions and preventing efforts of addressing disputes with peaceful measures.

He suggested the UN enhance preventive diplomacy and treat with disputes with peaceful measures as regulated at the Article 33 of the UN Charter.

The multilateralism, international law, peace, cooperation and development are also the key elements to build a peaceful, stable and prosperous Asia-Pacific region, he confirmed, adding that all parties on the East Sea should exercise self-restraint and solve disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, including the1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, fully respect diplomatic and legal processes, implement the Declaration on the Conduct of parties on the East Sea (DOC) and expedite the completion of the Code of Conduct in East Sea (COC).

Viet Nam committed to realizing the sustainable development goals and the 2030 Agenda, he said, urging developed nations to support developing ones, including Viet Nam, in such areas as finance, capacity, technology transfer and trade facilitation.
