VN to host WEF on ASEAN 2018 in September

VGP – Viet Nam will host the World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN 2018) in Ha Noi from September 11-13, Permanent Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

June 27, 2018 6:40 PM GMT+7

The press conference was co-chaired by WEF President Borge Brende.

Themed “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the event will feature entrepreneurship and the fourth industrial revolution, meeting the common interest of ASEAN countries and other nations in the region, while being aligned with ASEAN’s theme for 2018, “Towards a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN Community”.

It offers a platform for government leaders and businesses to discuss and share visions, ideas, and policy orientations for the region’s big issues.

On the sidelines of the event, the Viet Nam Business Forum will take place on September 13 with the participation of regional Government leaders and business representatives of the WEF and Viet Nam, Son said.

Speaking at the press conference, President Borge Brende highly valued the partnership relations between the WEF and Viet Nam.

Last year, Viet Nam and the WEF inked a partnership agreement under which the latter supports the former through the next stage of development as the fourth industrial revolution unfolds.

He also said the WEF expects to boost cooperation with ASEAN in coping with challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution.

Earlier the same day, the WEF President paid a courtesy call on PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, met with Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh and co-chaired the Round Table on WEF ASEAN 2018./.
