It will continue to invest in and expand 4G and 5G coverage with the connection speed of 1.5 Gbps by 2025 (hundreds of times higher than the current speed of 4G), said General Director of Viettel Telecom Cao Anh Son on the 15th anniversary of mobile business (October 14, 2004).

Mr. Son said that over the past 15 years, Viettel has generated telecom and IT boom, serving to raise mobile coverage rate from 5% in 2004 to 100% by 2009. Viettel also contributed to universalizing mobile services, supporting people, even those in far-reaching and border areas, to use mobile phones.

So far, the operator owns nearly 150,000 telecom stations, accounting for about 50% of total number of this kind in Viet Nam.

Viettel took the lead in deploying new service. With 5G coverage in HCMC, Viet Nam was one of a few countries successfully piloting the service.

In the coming time, Viettel Telecom targets to become No. 1 telco; provide smart phone and IoT services to 100% of citizens; and occupy 50% of the number of connected devices in Viet Nam by 2025.

To fulfill the aforesaid goals, Viettel Telecom will vigorously conduct digital transformation; build digital culture; and build digital production and service ecosystem for customers; and provide digital services./.
