VN to build a space technology research center
VGP - A space technology research center will be built in Hà Nội, using an ODA of US $350 million funded by Japan.

The center, the first of its kind in Việt Nam, is part of the plan to effectively implement the country’s space technology research and application strategy by 2020.
Covering 9 ha in the Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park, the project, lasting from 2010 to 2017, consists of 14 functional areas, including a satellite manufacturing plant, a magnetic field testing area, a satellite control center and an observatory.
At a seminar held last week by the Institute of Space Technology, Institute of Science and Technology, and the Consulting Group of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), experts said that the project will help Việt Nam to master technologies to manufacture and launch small satellites.
The center will receive and treat remote satellite data, give early warnings of natural and environmental disasters, forecast agricultural output and seafood resources, and update electronic maps used for land management and planning.
The feasibility study for the project will be completed by the end of this year and submitted to the Vietnamese and Japanese Government for approval.
