VN to attend global youth festival in Russia

VGP - A delegation of 116 outstanding young Vietnamese will take part in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi, Russia, from October 14 to 22, according to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCMCYU).

October 12, 2017 9:20 AM GMT+7

President of the Viet Nam Youth Federation Nguyen Phi Long stressed the presence of the delegation at the event will help promote the Vietnamese land and people, introduce the HCYU and the role of Vietnamese youth in national growth, and strengthen solidarity between young Vietnamese and their international peers.

The participation consolidates Viet Nam’s position and contributions to global youth movements for peace, democracy and social development, said Long.

The HCYU can also take advantage of the fest to boost cooperation with Russian partners in contribution to Viet Nam – Russia relations, he added.

At the festival, Viet Nam delegation will deliver speeches at conferences and seminars across a range of topics. It will collaborate with other delegations to organize an exhibition and a friendship pavilion to promote Viet Nam images, focusing on the young generation and socio-economic achievements. It will also display and present books on Viet Nam’s history, land, people and youth to international friends.

It will partake in some exchanges and bilateral meetings with leaders of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, and youth delegations from Cuba, Laos and Russia. It will also give an arts performance during the event “Asia-Pacific Day”, and participate in other cultural and sporting events with the other countries.

In addition, the delegation will run an exhibition and a friendship stall to promote Vietnamese history, socio-economic development and cuisine.

The WFYS, first held in 1947, is expected to bring together 20,000 youths from more than 150 countries to this October’s event.
