The nation posted the growth from 37% in 2018 to 61% in 2019.

The PwC survey, conducted in 27 territories and countries worldwide, illustrated that Southeast Asia is leading the customer shift to mobile payments users.

Cashless transactions, currently accounts for 10% of total payments in Viet Nam, are expected to increase to 50% in the next three years.

The Vietnamese government is working to accelerate the use of cashless transactions. In a resolution released January, it tasked the central bank to come up with solutions that would promote the use of e-wallets, which allow users to deposit cash into their e-wallets without the need for a bank account.

According to the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV), 76 via-internet and 41 mobile payment service providers and 26 e-wallets have been licensed so far.
