VN takes a seat in UNESCO Executive Board for third time

VGP – Recently Việt Nam obtained 156 ayes at the 35th session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris to become a member of the UNESCO Executive Council in the term of 2009-2013.

  At the 35th UNESCO General Conference in Paris, Việt Nam is selected as a members of UNESCO Executive Council in the term of 2009-2013
This is the third time Việt Nam takes a seat in the UNESCO Executive Board. Việt Nam already sat in this body in 1978-1983 and 2001-2005.

Việt Nam’s election reflects the international community’s recognition of the country’s role, status and significant contributions to the performance of UNESCO.

The new UNESCO Executive Board consists of 58 members, representing the General Conference to supervise the realization of programs and the budget management, make agendas, propose the admission of new members and introduce candidates for the UNESCO Director-General.
