VN supports closer linkages with Caribbean

VGP – The Vietnamese Government backs strengthened friendship and multifaceted ties between Viet Nam and Saint Kitts and Nevis in particular and the Latin America and Caribbean in general, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

The Vietnamese Government chief made the point on Wednesday in Ha Noi while receiving Kittitian FM Patrice Nisbett who is on an official visit to Viet Nam from November 18-21.

PM Dung warmly welcomed the guest's visit as it was made after the two countries established their diplomatic ties on November 1, 2013.  

For his part, FM Patrice Nisbett said he admired achievements Vietnsmese people reaped in the national building.

The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis hoped to cement and deepen the friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, the FM said. 

On the occasion, Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh and FM Patrice Nisbett also held talks to discuss ways to spur the bilateral linkages.

FM Patrice Nisbett suggested the two sides focus on advantageous areas and fields of each's strength such as trade, agriculture and tourism.  

Deputy PM and FM Minh hailed the proposals of Saint Kitts and Nevis to step up ties, including exchanges of delegations at all levels, the signing of legal documents on such areas as economics, trade and investment.

Both sides also talked international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to closely coordinate at international organizations and multilateral forums./.
