VN supports Russia’s accession to WTO

VNGOVNet – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Dũng said so in the regular press conference on April 05 when answering journalists’ question about the recent working session between the Vietnam Ministry of Trade representatives and the Russian counterparts to discuss bilateral economic and trade ties.

April 06, 2007 7:09 AM GMT+7

Vietnam may exempt the Russian Federation from bilateral negotiation on Russia’s entry into  WTO, revealed the Spokesman.

Mr. Lê Dũng informed that, on April 01-03,2007, a delegation of the Russia Ministry of Trade visited Vietnam and worked with Vietnam’s Trade Ministry to deal with some unsolved issues related to the economic and  commercial ties between the two countries, especially tariff and non-tariff barriers which are hindering Vietnamese enterprises’ accessibility to the Russian market. According to the Spokesman, some positive results were obtained, basically meeting the two sides’ desires.

However, there remain some technical problems which the two sides pledged to solve early to reach an overall agreement, said Mr. Lê Dũng.

He reconfirmed that Vietnam always wants to deepen economic cooperation with the Russian Federation as a part of the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
