This is the 85th diplomatic passport visa exemption agreement that Viet Nam has signed with countries aiming to create favorable conditions for the bilateral exchange of delegations.

Viet Nam has also had visa exemption policy for flight crew members of 18 countries and territories in the principle of reciprocity, in addition to unilaterally exempting visa for citizens of 13 nations, including Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Belarus, and for officials of the ASEAN Secretariat, contributing to facilitating the attraction of foreign tourists.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Minh and Minister Eimutis Misiunas signed an citizen readmission agreement between the two countries.

Earlier, the deputy PM hosted a reception for the Lithuanian minister, during which he highly appreciated the outcomes of the talks between the guest and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam on January 21, especially concerning the field of crime prevention and control.

Noting that bilateral trade ties still grow at a modest level, Deputy PM Minh asked Lithuania, a member of the European Union, to accelerate the progress of signing and ratifying the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement, thus contributing to enhancing trade and investment relations between the two sides as a whole and between Viet Nam and Lithuania in particular.

For his part, Minister Eimutis Misiunas affirmed that Lithuania backs Viet Nam’s enhancement of its cooperative relations with the EU, especially in the area of economy and trade.
