Mr. Nhan made the point on June 24 during his meeting with WB Viet Nam Country Director Victoria Kwakwa.

The Chairman highly spoke of the effective contributions of the WB to Viet Nam in general and that of Director Victoria Kwakwa in particular to the recent development in the country.

The Party and State of Viet Nam, said Mr. Nhan, always attach importance to poverty reduction. However, the poverty rate remains high, soaring over 50% especially in mountainous and coastal areas. So far, financial support has been given to every village across the country through the Vietnamese Women’s Association and the Viet Nam Farmers’ Association in favor of sustainable poverty reduction, said Mr. Nhan.

For her part, Director Victoria Kwakwa hoped that the two sides would continue to exchange information on the sustainable poverty reduction program.

Ms. Victoria Kwakwa also sought coordination with the front  in order to effectively support the poor and vulnerable in society./.
