This means the country's total number of COVID-19 patients remains unchanged at 1,007 including 666 locally-transmitted cases.

Of the patient tally, 525 have been confirmed from July 25 when a COVID-19 cluster emerged in central city of Da Nang.

Among the active cases, up to 44 patients were tested negative once for SARS-CoV-2; 39 twice; and 31 three times.

Meanwhile, 100,570 people who had close contact with CVOID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide.

Earlier, the Health Ministry decided to remove patient No.994 out of the list of COVID-19 cases after he tested negative to SARS-CoV-2 at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE).

He is now under quarantine at the second branch of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

After the steering committee decided to remove the patient from the list of COVID-19 cases in the afternoon of August 20, the Health Ministry allowed the E Hospital to re-open.

The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Health have recalled upon people to install Bluezone app, a domestically developed contact-tracing mobile app to alert people who have interacted with COVID-19 patients./.
