VN ranks 4th in tourism development next ten years

VGP - Recently, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has placed Việt Nam at the fourth rank among the fastest growing countries in terms of travel and tourism demand between 2008 and 2018.

June 05, 2009 2:35 PM GMT+7

In 2008, Việt Nam received 4.25 million international tourists and earned US$ 4 billion.

WTTC evaluates tourist development on the basis of different indicators, from the number of tourists, the Government tourism operating expenditure, capital investment, and visitor exports, to tourism consumption and other tourism demands.

According to the WTTC’s 2009 Travel and Tourism Economic Research, Việt Nam is ranked number one in Southeast Asia in terms of tourism growth forecast. Over the next ten years, Việt Nam’s travel and tourism industry is expected to achieve real growth of 6.5% annually.

Among the promotion activities, the annual activity “International Travel Expo in Hồ Chí Minh City” is regarded as one of the most important channels to expand international tourism market.
