VN protests all violations against sovereignty over Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa

VNGOP – Việt Nam resolutely opposes all activities violating the sovereignty of Việt Nam over the Hoàng Sa (Paracel) and Trường Sa (Spratly) Archipelagoes. All activities conducted on these archipelagoes without Việt Nam’s permission infringe the country’s sovereignty and are illegal.

Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Dũng made the statement on January 24 in response to a query by Japan’s NHK reporter about Việt Nam’s reaction to the report that Taiwan test ran a military C-130 plane on a newly-built runway in a Trường Sa's island on January 21.

He affirmed that Việt Nam has sufficient historical evidence and legal foundation to assert its sovereignty over both the Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa.

“Việt Nam requests Taiwan to stop the act immediately and refrain from conducting violations in the area,” stressed the Spokesman.
