These include 120,000 medical masks donated by the VRCS, and 300,000 masks donated by the Viet Nam-U.S. Alumni Club (VUSAC)-Ha Noi.

Addressing the hand-over ceremony, Chairwoman of the VRCS Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu said the donations are a very small number compared to what is needed in the U.S., but there is so much love behind every one of those masks.

The gifts show the solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese people and their U.S. counterparts, she added.

In accepting the donations, U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Daniel Kritenbrink extended thanks  the VRCS and individuals and organisations who contributed to these donations through VUSAC-Ha Noi.

He spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government’s outstanding outcomes in combating COVID-19, expressing his belief that the Viet Nam-U.S. relationship will continue advancing robustly in both bilateral and multilateral aspects in the time to come.

The same day, the Viet Nam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians Group (VRFPG) and a group of Vietnamese alumni who had studied in Russia and are now working at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources  handed over medical supplies and cash worth over VND1 billion (US$42,600) to the Russian Embassy in Viet Nam to help the Russian people in the fight against COVID-19.

Earlier, Viet Nam also offered medical supplies to several countries like the Sweden, U.S., Japan, Russia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK./.
