The figure was released at the meeting of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, held this morning under the chair of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The border defense force is now working with the local authorities of Quang Binh, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Khanh Hoa to instruct fishing boats to take shelter.

Mai Van Kiem, Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting, said the central localities should expect heavy rains of 200-300mm from Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong urged the border defense force to stay contact with and help fishing boats to move to safe areas as this a strong storm.

He asked the central localities to review marine tourism activities and coastal aquaculture to ensure safety for tourists and farmers.

In addition, the central localities need to issue sea fishing ban right on September 17 and may consider school closure to ensure safety for pupils.
